Development/Board and Donor Engagement Intern

Time commitment: Time commitment: 12 weeks minimum, 10-16 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
Summary: The Development Internship is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are interested in gaining experience in institutional fundraising in a nonprofit or museum setting. This internship focuses on developing meaningful relationships between the organization and its volunteer leadership, as well as loyal supporters, exposing the intern to nonprofit philanthropic giving strategy, processes, and writing.
The Development team is seeking an independent, detail-oriented and organized person with strong writing and communication skills – someone eager to learn and contribute to our efforts.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with the Donor Engagement team to help research, strategize, synthesize, and write content used to support relationship building with our donor constituency.
- Perform online research related to peer organizations and best practices.
- Create, edit and proofread resource documents for the Frontline Fundraising Team.
- Update fundraising database (using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge program) and other information-tracking documents
- Support other subdivisions of Development with occasional projects (Corporate Membership, Development Operations)
- Various other office related tasks, as assigned
- Attend two professional development lunches with the Volunteer Programs and Internships office
Skills/Qualifications:
- Must have an interest in learning about relationship-based fundraising
- Must have confidence interacting with staff at a variety of levels
- Must be an independent self-starter
- Must have strong writing and editing skills
- Must be highly attentive to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs necessary
