Volunteers in Action Photographer

The Aquarium's daily operations and conservation efforts rely heavily on dedicated volunteers to do everything from animal husbandry to visitor education. Within a given year, volunteers & interns dedicate well over 100,000 hours towards our mission to "Protect the Blue Planet." Every fall, we recognize and celebrate the hard work of our volunteers & interns at Volunturn, our annual appreciation event. During the awards ceremony and following reception, we display a slide show depicting our community members in action within their various positions: feeding penguins, giving presentations, diving in the Giant Ocean Tank, caring for sick sea turtles, etc. We rely on the help of a team of experienced volunteer photographers to collect these shots throughout the year. We are currently accepting applications to bolster this team in 2024. Timing is flexible - morning, mid-day, or afternoon, or all day. However, we aim to capture photos of every department 7 days per week throughout the year, which includes dives and food prep 8am-10am, visitor education 9am-1:30pm and 1pm-6pm, and various other tasks throughout the day, 9am-4pm. Priority will be given to applicants that can come in for at least three shifts of various days and times between July 5th and September 20th. If you are interested, please email a few sample photos to volunteer@neaq.org with the subject "Volunteers in Action Photographer," along with at least two dates and times you would like to come in. If you are selected, we will be in touch about next steps.

Thank you for your service!
