One Boston Day - Bag Decorating
Mayor Walsh announced a new annual Boston tradition in 2015 as an opportunity to recognize the resiliency, generosity, and strength demonstrated by the people of Boston and those around the world in response to the tragedy that occurred when two bombs disrupted the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. The Martin Richard Foundation hosts a large-scale cleanup day throughout Boston in recognition of this local day of service. Following these cleanups, participants are welcome to attend a picnic and celebration at Town Field in Dorchester. The Service Corps will be bringing reusable canvas bags that visitors can decorate and take home, or donate to local food pantries. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, handing out and collecting bags (if they are being donated), and cleanup, as well as general organization of materials. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with members of the public of all ages.
