Belle Isle Marsh Harvest Festival
Belle Isle Marsh the only salt marsh within Boston's city limits, and is thus an important site in need of protection. The Department of Conservation and Recreation, in partnership with Friends of Belle Isle Marsh, host events here regularly to educate the public and encourage the conservation of this local gem. The Annual Harvest Festival is a chance for visitors of all ages to enjoy the marsh and take part in some fun fall activities, but we need volunteers to help make this event a success! Volunteers will be working with DCR staff on a few educational activities: -Mystery Box activity to teach kids about plastics in our oceans -Create marine litter sculptures -March and sign in a 'litter sculpture parade' (occurring a few times throughout the afternoon) -Decorating reusable canvas bags with the public -Leading marine debris-themed games for kids This is a family-friendly event, so feel free to volunteer and bring the kids along! This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Friends of Belle Isle Marsh, Save the Harbor, The Winthrop Marketplace, and the East Boston Foundation.
